You can quickly check the battery and network status on your laptop using JAWS.
To do this, press INSERT+SHIFT+B if using Desktop keyboard layout or CAPS LOCK+SHIFT+B if using Laptop keyboard layout.
JAWS will announce your current battery percentage, charging status, and network connection.
