You can adjust the JAWS voice rate using keyboard commands so you can quickly make JAWS speak faster or slower as you work, without going into menus.
This is useful if you want to speed up reading long documents or slow down for complex information.
To temporarily adjust the voice rate using the keyboard:
- To temporarily increase the voice rate: Press ALT+CTRL+PAGE UP
- To temporarily decrease the voice rate: Press ALT+CTRL+PAGE DOWN
The temporary Voice Rate Change only lasts until you restart JAWS or switch apps.
- To permanently increase the voice rate: Press ALT+WINDOWS+CTRL+PAGE UP
- To permanently decrease the voice rate: Press ALT+WINDOWS+CTRL+PAGE DOWN
The permanent Voice Rate is saved until you change it.
