JAWS Power Tip: How To Disable the New Adobe Acrobat Reader Experience

The “new” Adobe Acrobat Reader experience is a redesigned interface that is enabled by default when you first start Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Some users, especially those using screen readers like JAWS, may find the new interface less accessible or missing certain features available in the legacy interface.

Disabling it can help ensure better compatibility and access to all features.

To disable the new Adobe Acrobat Reader experience:

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. Press ALT+F to open the File menu.
  3. Press the DOWN ARROW key several times until you locate “Disable New Acrobat Reader.” Press ENTER to select this option.
  4. You will be prompted to restart Acrobat Reader. Press TAB to locate the “Restart” button, then press ENTER.

After restarting, Adobe Reader will display the legacy interface, which should remain in effect for future sessions.
