JAWS can read the name and version of the application in focus.
Knowing this information is important because it helps you confirm you are in the correct program and can be useful when troubleshooting or seeking support.
1.) Press CTRL+INSERT+V if using Desktop keyboard layout, and CTRL+CAPS LOCK+V if using Laptop keyboard layout to have JAWS announce the name and version of the current application.
For example, JAWS might announce βMicrosoft Word Subscription Version, followed by a version number to indicate the version of Office 365 in use.
If you press this keystroke twice quickly, JAWS will display more detailed version information in the Virtual Viewer, including the versions of JAWS and Windows you are using.
You can review this information using standard reading commands or copy it to your clipboard.
Press ESC to exit the Virtual Viewer.
