You can virtualize a window using JAWS to create a temporary, text-based copy of its contents.
It lets you review information in a clean reading view, even when the original window is difficult to navigate.
Use it when a dialog, settings screen, or application window contains information that is scattered across many controls.
You can move through the virtualized content with normal reading commands without changing the original window.
To virtualize a window:
- Move focus to the window you want to examine.
- Press JAWS KEY+ALT+W. The JAWS KEY is INSERT if you are using Desktop Keyboard layout, and CAPS LOCK if using Laptop layout.
- JAWS opens a temporary reading view containing the text content of the window.
- Use standard navigation keys to review the information.
- When finished, press ESC to close the virtualized content and return to the original window.
