JAWS Power Tip: How To Use Context-Specific Help to Get Information About a Window or Control

Context-specific Help provides information about the current window, control, or option, including what it is used for and any relevant keystrokes.

For example, use this command when in a Word document to learn what it contains and how it is laid out, or when focused on a button to learn more about the control and how to activate it.

To get context-specific help in JAWS:

1.) Move to the item or control you want help with and press INSERT+F1 if you are using Desktop keyboard layout, or CAPS LOCK+F1 if you are using Laptop layout.

2.) The information is displayed in the JAWS Virtual Viewer. Navigate it using your arrow keys.

3.) Press ESC to exit context-specific help.
