JAWS Power Tip: How To Create a New Document in Google Docs with JAWS

There are multiple ways to create a new document in Google Docs with JAWS.

From the Google Docs home page, press H to navigate to the Start a Document heading.

Press B or DOWN ARROW to locate the Template Gallery button and press the SPACEBAR to activate it.

Select blank document from the templates list box. Focus will be placed in your new document, which is untitled by default.

From within an existing Google document, press ALT+F to navigate to the File menu, then N to create a new document.

From Google Drive, press SHIFT+T to create a new document.

To rename an untitled document, from within the document, press ALT+F to navigate to the File menu, then press R to select Rename.

Focus will be in the File Name dialog. Type a name for your document, and press ENTER.
