A few notes below for all members of the Tidbits community. These are just general updates for the week of April 7th 2022.
➜ Sponsorship Package Availability: If you are still on our waiting list for a sponsorship package please don’t fret. We haven’t forgotten about you. There just haven’t been any sponsorship packages available in the last several months. Current sponsors retain the right to renew their sponsorship packages for as long as they wish. Only when a current sponsor makes the decision not to renew does a package then become available to those on the waiting list. And since we have several potential sponsors on the waiting list each will be given 72 hours to pay for and secure the package before it is offered to the next potential sponsor on the waiting list. Many have written in to ask if we plan to offer more than 12 sponsorship packages and the definitive answer is that we do not. Top Tech Tidbits is a not-for-profit publication and as such does not require more than 12 sponsors to support its distribution and publication. We do however have a few other items in queue for Readers, Sponsors and Supporters that may require a bit of additional funding, but these will not be handled by offering additional sponsorship packages. It is imperative to the ongoing distribution of the Top Tech Tidbits Publication that we maintain 12 sponsors, so the limited number of packages is intentional in order to maximize sponsor impact and protect the future distribution of the publication. If you have any additional questions around this please don’t hesitate to reach out.
➜ Get Your Media Bar Out Of My Zoom: A new low vision reader named Richard wrote in to let us know that our media bar, which holds icons to all of our social media properties and well as a few frequently used site links such as Home, News, Sign Up, Donate and Search, was interfering with his ability to pinch and zoom the Top Tech Tidbits website on a smartphone. And he was correct. Placement-wise, our media bar used to “float” vertically in a fixed position to the right hand side of each page of the website and newsletter. The problem was, when you used pinch and zoom, the media bar would “float” over the text, making it impossible to read. So we went ahead and changed that vertical media bar to a horizontal media bar that still floats in a fixed position but now across the top of each page and newsletter. This now puts the media bar at the very top of every page, where it now stays, as you scroll, without obstructing your ability to read while pinching and zooming. Sincerest thanks to Richard for bringing this issue to our attention.
➜ So Many Webinars: I just wanted to touch briefly on the overwhelming number of submissions that we have been receiving for inclusion within the “Featured Webinars, Training Courses and Events” section of the Top Tech Tidbits newsletter. So many, in fact, that we cannot include them all. Not just due to time and budget constraints but also due to a hard character limit within the newsletter itself. Email clients cannot, unfortunately, receive an unlimited number of characters, so we must be selective about the information that we choose to include within each issue. And our priority will always be actual news. With current news and trends in access technology being first and foremost. We will still do our very best to select those Webinars and Training Courses that will have the greatest impact on the greatest number of readers over time.
