The “Hold CTRL key to stay within the active window” mouse navigation setting in ZoomText and Fusion can be very useful for users who work with high magnification levels or who have difficulty tracking the mouse pointer on the screen.
When enabled, holding the CTRL key keeps the mouse pointer confined to the currently active window, preventing it from accidentally moving into other windows or areas of the desktop.
For example:
⚫ Reduces disorienting screen jumps. Avoids abrupt panning caused by the pointer leaving the active window.
⚫ Prevents accidental clicks. Stops unintended activation of other windows or applications.
⚫ Speeds up navigation in forms and dialogs. You can move freely within a bounded area without drifting outside it.
By default, keeping the mouse pointer confined to the active window is turned off.
To use this feature, you must enable the Mouse Navigation setting, “Hold Ctrl key to stay within the active window.”
To enable this setting:
1.) From the ZoomText menu, choose Navigation > Mouse.
2.) In the Navigation Settings dialog, select “Hold Ctrl key to stay within the active window.”
3.) Click OK to save the change.
4.) To save this setting permanently, choose Configuration > Save As Default from the ZoomText menu.
Once enabled, press and hold the CTRL key while moving the mouse. The mouse pointer will stay within and not move outside the boundaries of the active window.
